MSgt William "BILL" Wright Hewitt SR (USAF RET)
MSgt William "Bill" Wright Hewitt SR (USAF RET), a resident of Seguin, Texas passed away on
January 31, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on October 18, 1945, Bill was a devoted husband,
father, and military veteran.
Bill served his country with honor and dedication, proudly serving in the US Air Force for 21
years and spent several tours in the Vietnam war. His military associations were a significant
part of his life and shaped his character. Bill's commitment to the Air Force exemplified his
unwavering loyalty and bravery.
In addition to his military service, Bill had a variety of hobbies that brought him great joy. He was
an avid reader and enjoyed expanding his knowledge through books. Bill also had a talent for
gunsmithing and leatherwork, showcasing his craftsmanship and attention to detail. Bill was also
a member of the Single Action Shooter Society (SASS) and known as “Tumbleweed Willy”.
Being outdoors was where Bill truly thrived, finding solace and fulfillment in nature.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at St. John Methodist Church, located at
600 S. Center ST. FM 465 in Marion, TX 78124. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for
family and friends to come together and honor Bill's memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the New Berlin VFD,
located at 8730 FM 775, Seguin, TX 78155. Contributions to this organization would be a
meaningful way to honor Bill's memory and support a cause dear to his heart.
Legends Tri-County Funeral Services, located at 101 Center Point Rd Ste B, San Marcos, TX
78666, is assisting the family during this difficult time. Their compassionate and professional
care will ensure that all arrangements are handled with the utmost respect and dignity.
Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sherrill Hewitt, his children: Bill Jr, Kathy Castillo,
Tom, and Amy Patterson, Grand Children, Travis, Michael, Justin, James, Montana, Sabastian,
Ryker, and Riley and Great Grand Children Mikaela, Lillian and Maddison as well as his
siblings: Tom, Pat Hewitt Cline, Kathy Blevins, and Fred. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Tom and Eleonora, and his sisters, Nancy Silvester and June Cameron.
