Sylvia Stevenson Sproat

Sylvia Stevenson Sproat of San Antonio died Wednesday September 7, 2022, at the age of 86
surrounded by family. Sylvia was born on December 16, 1935, in Greenville, Texas to Leon
Hunter Stevenson and Billie Mae Chapman.
The oldest of two, Sylvia graduated from Ursuline Academy in San Antonio, TX in 1953. She
spent much of her early career in property management, accounting, and tax preparations.
She later established her own Real Estate Broker’s Office, specializing in inner-city residential
market in San Antonio. For over 35 years she helped countless people find housing, purchase
their first home, and sell theirs. She was passionate about helping people create and grow their
own real estate portfolio, find affordable housing, and manage properties for homeowners.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter Sylvia S. Melancon of San Antonio; stepdaughter Lisa
of Carpinteria, CA; her two granddaughters S. Allie Melancon of San Antonio; Nickol and
Michael Santos of Floresville, TX; Great-Grandchildren Drake Sullivan, Hunter, Gabby, and Ava
Santos; nieces and nephew.
She is proceeded in death by her brother Romie L. Stevenson of South Carolina.
Sylvia led a life that was marked by doing what she was passionate about in work and life, her
love for musicals, music, travel, animals, and fashion were infectious, sharing her love for them
with family and friends. She was eccentric and vivacious never having met a stranger; she was
quick to find common ground with anyone.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 23 rd , 2022, from 3-5pm at the Episcopal
Diocese of West-Texas: Bishop Jones Center, 111 Torcido Dr. San Antonio, TX 78209.
