It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Petra “Pat” Young, my loving and devoted mother ,on July 31st , 2023 due to cancer. Family and friends gathered around her in her final weeks to reminisce and laugh.
She was born May 1st, 1942 in Luling, Texas to Gabriel and Aurelia Trevino. She was the first of nine children and the first to leave home for nursing school in Austin, TX . After becoming a Registered Nurse, she joined the Air Force serving as a flight nurse during Vietnam. Her gift in nursing allowed her to quickly move up in rank (leaving as a Major) and become a Pediatric Nurse Practioner. While stationed in San Antonio, her charge nurse and future sister-in-law introduced her to Richard “Nick” Young. A love of a life time began and in December of 1973 they married. Together they settled down in Idaho.
She was the beloved mother of Gabriella Stoops, and devoted grandmother of Maya and Eric Stoops. Sisters Martha Wolfe and Joann Martin, as well as Brothers Rudolph and Edward Trevino will cherish many memories of her.
Predeceased by her husband Nick, and brothers Gabriel, John, Conrad, and Peter.
Pat truely had the heart of servant. When she was not caring for others as a nurse, she was tending to those within her community. She was active within the church and touched many lives through ACTS, Cursillo, Guadalupanas, and the Divine Mercy Senecal.
My mother loved traveling, horses, gardening and entertaining. Her flowers brightened the neighborhood and graced her table at the many parties and dinners she hosted for dear friends and family. She cherished time with her loved ones and was happiest when sharing a meal and memories with them. She will be dearly missed
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr., San Antonio, TX on Monday, August 21, 2023 beginning at 1200PM.
