Michael Charles Jones

Michael (Mike) Charles Jones, 70, passed away peacefully at home in New Braunfels, Texas, on July 23, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.

Mike was born on May 19, 1953, in Casper, Wyoming. He made Casper his home most of his life. He married Susan Jones (Gerdom) in 1978 and they had three children – Jacquelyn (Jackie), Patrick (P.J.) and Michael (Mike). Though their relationship wasn’t permanent, Mike and Susan remained friends until she passed away along with P.J. in 1988. Susan’s family continued to be an integral part of Mike’s life.

Mike and Susan purchased E&F Wrecker Service shortly after their marriage, and for the next 20 years, Mike worked long, hard hours and built the business into one of the largest, most well-respected towing companies in the State. He was actively involved in combatting drunk driving through local and national organizations and made many friends in law enforcement.   

Although he achieved great things in business, he would tell you that his children were his greatest accomplishment. Mike would often brag about his military veteran children, his daughter the lawyer/judge, his son the police officer, and his grandchildren. It was clear he passed on his commitment to serving the community to both children. When Jackie and Michael both moved to Texas, Mike followed soon after.

Mike loved Corvettes, NASCAR, Jeopardy, gardening and his chihuahuas. He was ornery and loved to tell stories. Most of all he was giving – he often helped friends and family in tough times.

Mike is survived by his daughter Jacquelyn Christilles, son-in-law, Eric, their children, Evelyn and Blake; his son, Michael Jones, Michael’s children, Hope, Kenzie, and Taylor; his sister Kathy Pons and brother-in-law, Peter; his sister Mary Hick, and niece, Julie. He is also survived by his former spouse, Geri Jones. He will leave behind many friends and extended family. Mike is predeceased by his mother, Helen; father, Charles (Chuck); and his son, P.J.

Services will be held at Highland Park Church on August 12, 2023, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving or the Casper Humane Society.
