Kathleen Ann Martinez, (Kathy), was a beacon of love, compassion, and service, was born on June 29, 1970, and peacefully departed this world on November 5, 2023, after a courageous 7-month battle with cancer. Kathy's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kathy's life was a testament to the power of love, and she dedicated herself to making the world a better place through her unwavering commitment to serving others. Her radiant smile had the ability to light up any room and bring joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a heart as big as the Texas sky and was adored by many.
For 22 years, Kathy lovingly taught children's classes at her church, instilling in them not only the values of faith but also the importance of kindness, patience, and understanding. Her dedication to nurturing the next generation left an indelible mark on her community and the lives of countless young souls.
Kathy's passion for care and healing extended to her professional life, where she was awarded the title of "Best Nurse of South Texas" for two consecutive years. Her exceptional skills, empathy, and bedside manner were unparalleled, and her patients were not just recipients of care but beneficiaries of her genuine concern for their well-being.
Kathy shared 35 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Victor Martinez, Jr. Their love was a source of inspiration to all who knew them, and they built a life together filled with joy, love, and mutual support.
Kathy was immensely proud of her five children: Crystal Martinez, Monica Martinez, Samuel Martinez, Giovanni Cordoba, and Juan Gonzales. She cherished the unique qualities of each of her children, and her love was unconditional, and she took great pride in their accomplishments.
Kathy was also a doting grandmother, showering her seven grandchildren with affection and laughter. Makensie Moon, Sydney Moon, Dominic Martinez, Reagan Moon, Adelina Cuenca, Remi Cuenca, and Alfonso Flores were the light of her life, and her legacy of love will continue through the generations she adored.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Rebecca Smith, and her brother, Edward Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, C. David Smith.
Kathy Martinez's departure leaves a void in our lives, but her memory will forever be a guiding light, inspiring us to be better, love more, and serve others selflessly. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and love will continue to ripple through the lives she touched, reminding us of the profound impact one person can make through a life well-lived.
