Johnny “John” Stark Jr. of Universal City passed away Monday August 22nd of 2021 at the age of 80. He was born in East Austin on January 28th of 1941. He is survived by his true love Susie Gavlick-Stark, his daughters; Connie Stark of Austin, Sibylle Slack of San Marcos, and Rhoda Reyes and husband Steven of Austin. John also leaves behind many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews, along with his brothers and sister, and friends.

John was a loyal friend known for his bold personality and “shoot it to you straight” attitude. He was an excellent marksman, fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He served in the Army, ran an Italian restaurant, raced stock cars, bonded thousands out of jail and built beautiful bridges across central Texas.

Special thanks to Dave and Lisa, Susie’s daughter and son-in-law who showed him so much love and support after their reuniting in his later years. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at United Methodist Northeast Hospital who provided care to him for the last few weeks.

He will be terribly missed but we look forward to seeing him again.
