Johnny Mendoza

Johnny Mendoza, a lifelong resident of San Marcos, TX, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2021 at the age of 56. 

John was born October 21, 1964. He graduated from SMHS in 1983. He was a jack of all trades that found his calling as a mechanic. He worked for Texas State and most notably for Rudy’s Automotive for many years. John married the love of his life, Hope. They were married for 35 years. John welcomed 9 children, all whom meant the world to him. 

John is survived by his mother, Mary Mendoza & husband Roy; his wife, Hope Mendoza; his children, Gwen Martinez & husband David; Christopher Mendoza & wife Isabel; Crystal, Matthew, Jordan, Aaliyah & Jessica; 16 grandchildren- whom he loved like crazy! Siblings, Cindy M. Perez & husband Oscar, David Mendoza & wife Juribe, Joann Mendoza & lifelong partner Luis Trevino, Ariana Ruiz & husband Rudy, Joaquin Mendoza & Andre Perkins; 16 nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan R. Mendoza; children, J.J. & Angel Brianna, and niece Natalia. 

John loved his cars & threw the best family BBQ’s. He was a jokester who loved to make everyone laugh. He was also a man of many words, at times “colorful” words to be more exact! He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved his family. Everything he did was for them. He will be missed by his wife, his children, mother, siblings, family and dear friends. And most of all, his beloved grandchildren.
