Jerry Don Ledford, loving husband, father, and grandfather was peacefully called home on
November 12, 2022, at the age of 69.
Jerry was born March 28, 1953, in Centerville, TX. He grew up the youngest of seven brothers
and sisters. He played running back for Crockett High School, and was a three year letterman. After high school, Jerry dutifully
served our country in the United States Air Force, flying air rescue missions, and saving
countless lives. He was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense
Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
Jerry graduated from the Houston Fire Academy in 1978, and further dedicated his life to
helping others for 30 years. He loved people and conversations, and read voraciously on any
subject he wanted to know more about. He was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor
in need. He could make anyone laugh. His generosity and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
He is survived by wife Deborah Ledford, son Vincent Ledford, daughter-in-law Jamie Ledford,
daughter Charissa Stier, son-in-law Jason Stier, granddaughters Abigail & Evelynn Stier, brother
Leland Ledford, sister’s Carol Manley, Doris Lowery, Linda Shaw, Pat Cook, many nieces,
nephews, relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by brother James Ledford, mother Audrey Newton, and father Walter
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church,
18220 Upper Bay Rd., Houston, TX 77058. Service will begin at 10am, visitation preceding at
9am. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Please visit the following link
