James Nathaniel Henry was born February 4, 1979, to Nancy Bruton Henry and James “Bo” Henry in Austin, Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2021. He married the love of his life, Tina Decker on October 6, 2012. He was preceded in death by two very special grandparents, Ola Henry and William (Billy) Bruton.
James only had one job as an adult – that of Hays County Corrections Officer. He spent 22 years on the force, influencing and encouraging many people who visited there, both inmates and their families, as well as his fellow officers.
He leaves one daughter, Harley Grace Henry. They had a special bond like no other. Other survivors include his wife, Tina, parents Bo and Nancy Henry, brother Brandon Henry and wife Katie, sister Katy Henry, nephews Trent and Lawson Henry and Jack Decker, and niece Whitley Henry. He also leaves his grandmother Margie Bruton, mother-in-law and father-in-law Liz and Ernest Decker, sister-in-law Kelley Decker, and brother-in-law Wayne Decker and wife Jennifer, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial service, including full honors service by the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, will be observed at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at San Marcos First Baptist Church, 325 W. McCarty Ln., San Marcos, Texas. Pastor Clay Barton of First Baptist Church, Dripping Springs, will be the officiant.
