Guadalupe Vega Obituary

Guadalupe Vega, fondly known as Lue, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 64, in Houston, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving husband, devoted siblings, and dear friends. Lue was a cherished wife, sister, aunt, friend, and mentor whose presence will be deeply missed.

Lue's passion and dedication were evident in her long-term employment at Rice University, where she made a significant impact. D. Golden stated "Lue was the heartbeat of the school, with an incredible knowledge that all depended. She gave and received respect and courtesy no matter the position or status. She will be missed beyond words."

Lue is preceded in death by her father, Francisco Vega, her mother, Margarita Ruiz-Vega, her sister, Esther Garcia, her brother, Frank Vega, her sister-in-law, Lupe Vega, her nephew,  Abraham Garcia, and her nephew, Joey Vega. She is also preceded by her brother-in-law Eldiodoro Garcia, her brother-in-law Evaristo Gonzalez, and her brother-in-law Carmelo Canales.

Lue leaves behind her loving husband, Javier Garcia, who shared in her joys and supported her throughout life's journey. Their faithful, chihuahua Zoey, will miss her dearly. Lue's siblings and their life partners include Rachel and Pablo Lopez, Ramona Sanchez-Vega, Ted Vega, Gracie Vega, Estella Martinez and Robert Kenny, Jessie and Janie Vega, Rudy Vega, Mary Vega and April Fox, Teri Vega and Mary Moore, Sal and Janice Vega, Jimmy and Lupita Vega.

She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart: Pablo Jr., Beatrice, Maggie, Alicia, Raul, Missy, Ted Jr., Esmeralda, Vicky, Pati, Ronnie, Mary, Ricky, Monica, Chris, Frankie, Steven, Brianne, Jacob, Stephanie, and Jaime Jr. Additionally, she is survived by 44 great nieces and nephews and 16 great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed to have her as a part of their lives.

A life celebration in honor of Lue's remarkable life will be held at The Harbor Church, 2821 W. Parkwood Ave, Friendswood, TX 77546, Saturday, June 17th 1pm-3pm. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
