It is with great sadness that the family and friends mourn the passing of Douglas Leo Polzin. Douglas Leo Polzin (Doug) was born to Patsy and Earl Polzin on May 20, 1958 in Waco, Texas. Doug died tragically in a car accident on April 5th 2016. Doug's mother Patsy Polzin tragically died with Doug in the same car accident. Doug is survived by his wife Leticia Polzin, sons Javier and Jorge and sister Victoria French and her husband Patrick O'Connell. Douglas met his wife Leticia in Mexico in the year 2000. Douglas traveled back and forth to Mexico to be with Leticia for ten years until they got married in 2010. For the remaining 6 years he was the best loving and caring husband and father, striving every day to take care of all his loved ones. Doug loved adventure and travel, often going to his favorite places like Yellowstone, Glacier, Waterton National Parks, Sedona Arizona and many other places. He also became a great cook during his time with Leticia and loved to BBQ and prepare fun meals for the family. On several occasions he also prepared most of the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners on his own. Like his mother, Doug also loved pets and enjoyed having the family dog and his mom's dog travelling with him. Doug was a general contractor in San Marcos, Texas and worked in the San Marcos, Austin, Houston, Fredericksburg, San Antonio and Laredo areas with occasional projects in Calgary and Fernie, Canada and Sedona, Arizona. Doug was an amazing builder contractor, a jack of all trades...he knew how to plan and build all aspects of any job from pouring foundations, plumbing, electric, framing, drywall and finishing carpentry. He loved his projects and his clients and got to know them on a personal basis and would always tell his family about the great people he was doing projects for. He involved his sons Jorge and Javier in many of his construction projects waking them up early in their teenage years to join him on jobs and make them be part of his business and learn the trades. He always cared for everybody and kept everyone's spirits up with his positive attitude and great sense of humor. Douglas left a lasting legacy for his family that will continue throughout our lives. Doug will be missed tremendously by his family, friends and all those that knew him. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 12:30-1:30 pm at the The Hill County Event Center, 107 Centerpoint Rd. in San Marcos, Texas with the funeral service beginning at 1:30 pm.
