Dolores Ann (Wendel) Shuler

Dolores Ann Shuler (nee Wendel) was born August 3, 1936 in Gonzales Texas to Frankie Jesse Rentz Wendel and Wilton Wendel, who were local farmers. She graduated in 1955 from Gonzales High School, where she was a member of the Apache Drill Team. She later moved to San Antonio Texas for a brief period to work at the Bell Telephone Company. In 1958 she met Kenneth Dunn Shuler, at his family's shop, while purchasing records there of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Kenneth was a co-owner with his Dad Nixon Shuler and Brothers at Shuler Radio & Television in Gonzales, and they married June 13, 1958. Dolores worked for Pearson Flowers in Gonzales prior to her marriage. She later worked for 15 years as an Insurance Clerk for Providence Washington Insurance Company, in Austin, Texas. Dolores was an avid gardener, wonderful baker, Opera and Broadway enthusiast and enjoyed studying her German Ancestry and Genealogy many years before genealogy websites became so popular as today.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Helen Fanelli of New York and her son Kevin Shuler of Dale Texas; Furthermore her son-in-law Charles Fanelli, granddaughters Lily Rose of New York, Savannah, Ashley, & Heather; Her grandson Sean Shuler & his wife Carrie as well as several great-grandchildren. Her Sister Maxine (Mickey) Uitermarkt, of Lockhart Texas: Nieces Kellie Fitzgerald, Kimberly Gainer, Deborah Uitermarkt, Melissa Uitermarkt, & Rebecca Uitermarkt, Nephews, Jeffery Uitermarkt, & Patrick Uitermarkt and predeceased nephew Keith Scott Uitermarkt (passed on 3/31/21). Further survived by several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
The past few years Dolores was a resident at the Magolia Nursing Home in Luling Texas. Her niece Deborah & Deborah's son Kalin were with Dolores at the ICU at the Ascension Seton Hospital in Austin, when Dolores passed away, October 30, 2021.
