David Edward Brandenburg

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Brandenburg of Kansas City, Missouri, who passed away on December 10, 2020 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas with his wife and daughter at his side.   Dave was born in Battle Creek, MI on August 26, 1949.  He graduated from St Phil High School in Battle Creek and from SAMS Technical Institute in Ft Wayne, IN where he met his wife Judy.  They celebrated their 50th anniversary February 14, 2020.

Dave worked at Western Electric in St Louis as an Engineering Associate for 14 years until moving to Kansas City in 1983 when he started working at  AT&T. In 2005 he retired from AT&T and began working for Dairy Farmers of America in their IT department from where he permanently retired in 2013. Dave’s family was most important to him. He loved spending time with his family and friends, getting to see his siblings, gardening, traveling to and attending the many show choir activities of his grandchildren, RV’ing, boating, water skiing, and traveling.   He loved his church and had served as a trustee, Head Trustee and usher, and had worked with Rebuild Clay County, Habitat for Humanity and A Turning Point.  He loved helping anyone who needed it.

Dave is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Tracie Lawe (James/Tony) of KC, grandchildren Dustin Lawe (KC) and Makayla Lawe (KC), Dan Brandenburg (Nancy) IN,  Diane Hanton (Charles) IL, Denise Lynch (PA), Dennis Brandenburg (Jutta) MI, and Dale Brandenburg (Evelyn) CA, plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Dave was preceded in death by his parents Russ & Marge Brandenburg. 

A Celebration of Life service will be planned in 2021 when Covid restrictions are lifted.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia Society or A Turning Point in Dave’s honor.
