Carmen Blackwell Hubley
May 22, 1931 – July 6, 2021
Carmen Blackwell Hubley, 90, was born to Albert and Ada Blackwell in Iowa in 1931. She was the youngest of 7 children and is survived by one sister, 92, in Oklahoma.
Carmen married Malcolm Hubley in 1954 in California where they raised 4 children. After they retired, they moved from California to Oklahoma, and spent over 20 years in the company of her extended family. She is known as “Carmie” to her relatives, and will be greatly missed by them.
Carmen became a widow after 65 years of marriage, at which time she moved from Oklahoma to Texas near her daughter and grandchildren. Preceding her husband in death was difficult for Carmen, and despite the pandemic restrictions, she became friends with many in her apartment complex in San Marcos TX. She was full of life, hope and determination on her 90th birthday and looked forward to traveling to visit family. She was a strong, independent, intelligent and interesting woman and will be missed by those who knew her.
Carmen’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren reside in California and Texas.
She will be buried next to her husband in a family plot in San Marcos Texas.
