Be the first to offer your condolences on Alvin's Tribute Wall
Alvin (“Bud” or “Buddy”) Thomas Pawlik, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas passed away on October 30th, 2023 after 67 amazing years. He was born on June 8, 1956 in San Antonio, where he spent most of his younger years. During school, he worked his way up to being an Eagle Scout, inspiring his son to do the same, years later. His family later relocated to Austin, where he attended Lanier High School and later raised his family.
After high school, Alvin went on to join the U.S. Navy and loved “sailing the seven seas”, as he always said, while aboard the USS Koelsh. He received the Marksman Rifle Award and the National Defense Service Medal -Battle "E" Award before being Honorably Discharged from service in 1978. After departing the military, Alvin began his career in the wine business. He worked for several large beverage companies and was always a top salesman. He even won trips to France, Australia, Argentina and many other places. He shared his love of wine with all of those around him, especially at gatherings and family holidays.
Alvin was a very generous and funny person. He enjoyed being the center of attention and making people laugh with his stories and humor. He even made up words and phrases which everyone called "Alvinisms". He loved his family and would be the first to ask when and where all of the holiday gatherings were going to be held. Alvin loved gardening, reading, watching Nascar, and riding the rails. He was very passionate about trains and rode them all over the U.S., always excited to plan the next adventure. He was also a longtime fan of ZZ Top and was often seen in a concert t-shirt.
He is survived by his two children Aaron Pawlik and wife, Rachelle, of Wasilla, Alaska; and Andrea Pawlik of Austin, TX; five grandchildren: Trevor, Austin, Alyssa, Annika and Addisyn; three siblings: Dale Pawlik, Mike Pawlik and his wife Cherie, and Kristi Pawlik Dominguez and her husband David, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Marian Pawlik.
A small service will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX on March 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM
